I feel like you know everything I feel about money. I really struggle to spend on myself, I overthink every "big" purchase, and I am more likely to give out money than to use it for myself.

I am forcing myself to buy things for the joy of it. I got a rocking chair just because I knew I really wanted it. I forced myself to get a standing desk after months of telling myself it's too expensive. I am glad I got the chair because I practically live on it now.

I am trying to tell myself that I work to take care of myself. And care can also be spending on the things I want.

It was amazing to see some of my same struggles spelled out this way by someone else. Thank you for sharing and for the reminder to spend on things that matter to you : )

I wrote this one a while ago and didn't have time to add that I also went to an expensive weekend bhakti retreat https://www.garrisoninstitute.org/event/the-heart-of-devotion-retreat-with-krishna-das-2025/

Was over $800 for 2.5 days not including the car and accommodation. It was soo worth it, absolutely life changing and affirmed me in my beliefs of doing what feels right!

Aww man... yeah, money-relationships get laid down super early when we're not even aware of it. My Dad has this phrase he says whenever someone asks him how he is: "oh, you know, a lot of work, very little money." In his experience, I'm sure that feels justified; blue collar / working with your hands doesn't get paid very well even though it's exhausting. But for me, it kind of instilled a reluctance to charge for my coaching services, because that's mostly done from my head and doesn't provide a tangible something for you to hold.

I listened to a free marketing webinar by someone a couple of years ago and only remember one of the mantras they taught: "I'm a magnet for money miracles." Fun correlation, I was at that webinar, said the mantra a couple of times, and the next day got a refund on some medical expenses. ;-)

hahah hell yea, we manifest the possibilities we truly believe in. Adjacently I realised that starting from a 'How will I go about making this happen because I want it to be a yes' rather than a 'No because it cannot be done' mindset is a big shift also when it comes to possibilities in one's lives
