I nearly went to bed without sending this out. It’s already a day late, which I find someone acceptable but nothing beyond. I’d have broken my year-long streak!
IRL maxi
The truth is real-life has been pretty busy, in a really nice way! The week I got back from NYC I hosted a MEGA hot pot party with around twenty-four of us tossing various ingredients into two pots of steaming soup to rein in the Lunar New Year. It feels really nice to host a party and bring people I love together. What felt super great about this party was that almost everyone there, I’d consider a really good friend of mine. It wasn’t a party where I invited as many people as I could, it was a curated guest list of people I truly wanted there. And that felt delightful.
Community
Community is really important to me. One of the communities I am most excited about is a budding sauna community I have been building with a few people I met at the member’s only party of a sauna I regularly frequent in London. They’ve had a schedule of going every Wednesday at 6pm and Friday at 8 am. I’ve been going to their 8 am one and even though the sauna is a 35 minute trek, each week it has been one of my highlights. I’ve slowly been pulling more and more friends into the sauna network with the hope of us growing beyond the sauna into a social community - stay tuned!
Job hunt
The truth is this newsletter issue was supposed to be a highly thoughtful essay about the experience I have had job hunting, especially as it pertains to thinking about growing experience, positioning oneself in the market and broader life questions around meaning, purpose, working for big or small companies, job as identity/place/belonging etc. I didn’t get around to it as I’ve been hard at work job hunting (and sauna-ing). Time in for that essay next time.
I’m going to bed so I’m rested for the 8 am sauna tomorrow (Friday). My life priorities are very clear I suppose!
Nice post and yes great to keep the cadence :) Saunas are fantastic.. Meet so many interesting people there and great for your health and mind [there is a great relatively cheap sauna (£55 a month) at Porchester Spa and Baths near Paddington/London, one of the oldest Turkish baths still open in London, has men/women and mixed days]
